Frequently Asked Questions
What are the eligibility requirements for the CPPB exam?
Candidates must be active NIGP members with at least 2 years of public-sector procurement experience (or 1 year with a qualifying degree). All experience must be in a public agency or publicly funded organisation. Candidates must also agree to UPPCC's Code of Ethics and submit a formal application.
What is the passing score for the CPPB?
Candidates must achieve a scaled score equivalent to 70% or higher to pass the CPPB examination. Scores are reported as scaled scores, and UPPCC does not disclose raw score-to-scaled-score conversion tables.
How does the CPPB differ from the CPPO?
The CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer) is designed for non-managerial procurement professionals, focusing on operational buying activities. The CPPO (Certified Public Procurement Officer) is the higher-level certification targeting procurement managers and officers with more experience and leadership responsibilities. Both are awarded by UPPCC.
